A Place To Belong

Drop-In + Food Bank

We strive to offer a place for our neighbours to gather and belong. We are committed to reaching out to the vulnerable populations in our local community and to empower them to overcome obstacles. Our drop-in and food bank serve to resource those in need and provide a common ground to connect with one another.

Food Bank

The Riverwood Food Bank partners with Winnipeg Harvest to provide groceries to Elmwood families in need. We are currently serving more than 150 neighbourhood families every two weeks.
Every Wednesday morning we unload a delivery truck and work to sort the food into personalized orders. The food is then distributed on Wednesday evenings and Thursday afternoons. We strive to offer help to those in need while keeping the process full of dignity, free of discrimination, and full of grace.

Wednesdays: 7pm–8:30pm, Thursdays: 12pm–2pm
The Garage, 274 Talbot Ave

If you are in need of food, please contact Winnipeg Harvest at (204) 982-3660 to register for a hamper.

If you’re interested in serving Wednesday mornings, Wednesday nights or Thursday afternoons, please

Drop In

There’s something special about a community formed around a meal. The Riverwood Drop-In is open during food bank times for people in our neighbourhood to meet up with friends and neighbours and enjoy a meal together, make a craft or play board games. Wednesday nights we enjoy a chilli dinner and Thursdays we share a soup lunch.

Wednesdays: 6:30pm–8:30pm, Thursdays: 12pm–2pm
The Garage, 274 Talbot Ave

KidzClub

An energized and lively community gym night, Kidz Club offers a place for elementary-aged kids from Elmwood to connect, feel accepted, and be cheered on by mentors and leaders. It truly is a privilege to experience kids from all over the Elmwood community coming together to share games, crafts, snacks, and friendship.

Tuesday + Wednesday evenings, 6.30 – 8.30pm / September to June
Lord Selkirk School, 170 Poplar Ave (Tuesday) River Elm School, 500 Riverton Ave (Wednesday)

Transportation

Riverwood’s transportation program goes beyond simply providing rides to church for those in our community. Through the transportation ministry, we forge relationships each week by providing a pick-up and drop-off service, and bringing those in Elmwood the opportunity to experience community with the Riverwood family through weekend services. If you need or know of someone needing a ride to Riverwood on Sunday morning
